Media Massa dan Jurnalis di Bali Didesak Tetap Kritis di Masa Krisis
DENPASAR - Aliansi Jurnalis Independen (AJI) Denpasar dan Asosiasi Media Siber Indonesia (AMSI) Bali menyoroti menurunnya kekritisan media massa dan jurnalis di Bali di tengah disrupsi dan pandemi Covid-19. Perlu terbobosan agar pengelola media massa maupun para jurnalisnya tetap kritis di masa krisis akibat kondisi tersebut.
Hal itu mengemuka dalam diskusi serangkaian World Press Freedom Day (WPFD) 2023 yang digelar AJI Kota Denpasar di Warung Kubu Kopi, Denpasar, Kamis (11/5/2023). Tiga narasumber menjadi pemantik diskusi tersebut. Yakni Luh De Suriyani, pengurus AJI Indonesia; Nengah Muliarta, ketua AMSI Bali; dan Kabid Humas Dinas Kominfo Provinsi Bali, Kadek Suadnyana Puriyanto.
Muliarta mengakui, dengan pesatnya internet telah menumbuhkan banyak media online. Pada satu sisi membuat media yang eksisting sebelumnya, terutama cetak yang kembang kempis. Masalahnya, banyaknya media massa, terutama online hari ini tidak menjamin kekritisan media terhadap kekuasaan.
"Membangun kontrol sosial saat ini berat sekali. Kalau kritis sedikit, dibilang nyinyir," kata dia.
Muliarta mengatakan, sudah sewajarnya media massa memberi koreksi terhadap pemerintahan. Yang jadi masalah, banyak media yang tergantung terhadap iklan pemerintah.
AMSI sendiri saat ini berupaya agar media massa online anggotanya bisa sehat secara ekonomi, dan tidak terlalu tergantung terhadap iklan pemerintah. Di antaranya membuat agensi periklanan. Sehingga bisa menyokong media online yang kecil-kecil.
Kadek Suadnyana mengakui, ada iklan pemerintah melalui media massa. Katanya, pemerintah tetap membutuhkan media massa sebagai mitra dalam pembangunan.
"Pemerintah membutuhkan sinergitas dari media. Sebagai bahan evaluasi kebijakan pemerintah yang sedang dijalankan," katanya.
Ketika ditanya soal iklan pemerintah yang membuat media jadi tumpul terhadap kebijakan pemerintah, dia menyatakan tidak terlalu mengetahui kondisi ini. Katanya, itu perlu duduk bersama dengan pemangku kepentingan. Dia mengatakan, pada tahun ini anggaran iklan pemerintah ke media menurun 10 persen, tahun depan karena ada Pilkada akan turun lagi.
Luh De menjawab soal iklan pemerintah yang membuat media menjadi tumpul sebagai watchdog. Dia mengatakan, independensi media atau jurnalis menurun akibat disrupsi dan pandemi Covid-19. Kondisi ini membuat banyak media menjalin kerja sama iklan dengan pemerintah.
Yang jadi masalah, menurut Luh De, ketika media massa memiliki ketergantungan terhadap iklan dari pemerintah, itu kerap kali menumpulkan kekritisan media massa atau jurnalis. Hal ini, terjadi karena iklan pemerintah ini kerap kali diikuti dengan tekanan untuk tidak mengkritik kebijakan pemerintah.
"Ada dua tipe media terhadap iklan pemerintah. Ada yang terlalu tergantung, ada yang tidak terlalu tergantung," kata dia.
Dia menjelaskan, dia tipe media ini memiliki dampak pada fungsi pers sebagai watchdog terhadap kekuasaan.
"Media yang sangat tergantung jelas dia melemahkan fungsi sosial medianya, tapi kalau yang tidak terlalu tergantung masih bisa independen," imbuhnya.
Luh De mengatakan, perlu terobosan agar media massa tidak terlalu tergantung terhadap kue iklan dari pemerintah. AJI sendiri saat ini sedang menggagas sekolah jurnalisme. Tujuannya untuk menambal ancaman-ancaman jurnalisme.
Dia berharap media massa atau jurnalis tetap menjadi watchdog terhadap pemerintah sekaligus berpihak terhadap kepentingan publik. ***
