Jakarta Editors Lab 2017
Theme : Data Driven Stories “Find or tell Stories with Data”
Date : 6 – 8 April 2017
The Jakarta Editors Lab is a worldwide series of hackathons hosted by leading news organisations. Over a two day (7 – 8 April 2017) competition, teams will develop innovative journalism prototypes. On the afternoon of 6 April, participants will be invited to an data journalism workshop designed to inspire their prototyping.
The winning team from each hackathon earns a spot in the two-day EditorsLab Final in June 2017 in Vienna, Austria. The winning team in Jakarta will have the opportunity to compete against peers from around the world on a truly global stage at the GEN Summit. Travel and accommodation for the three-person winning team are included in this prize.
The Jakarta Editors Lab will gather teams from the main Indonesian media outlets and student press university. These teams will represent a variety of media platforms (print, digital, broadcast). We will invited 12 of media outlets and 3 of university representative from all over Indonesia.
Every team will be containt three-person, and should include a journalist, a developer, and a designer. They will be expected to build a working prototype of a news product or service during the event. No previous work or preparation is needed.

Each participating teams meet and have 3 minutes to present to each other the most innovative project released by their newsrooms in the last months.

17:30 : Mini pitch session
The teams will have one minute to:
- Describe the problem they are trying to solve
- Describe their target audience
- Announce in one sentence what they are going to prototype
