Research Report Digital Safety of Content Creators in Indonesia

This book presents the results of research that identifies and measures the digital security index of 312 content creators in Indonesia through four aspects: perceptions of digital security, experiences with digital attacks, the impact of attacks, and practices for handling digital attacks. With an overall index score of 2.41 out of a maximum of 4, this indicates that the digital security condition of content creators is relatively good, but there are still significant challenges that need to be addressed.

For content creators who have experienced digital attacks, the impacts are quite detrimental. This is reflected in the score for the impact of digital attacks, which is the lowest among the other aspects (1.14 out of 4) and falls within the "poor" range. Digital attacks pose serious threats to the security (both physical and emotional) and privacy of content creators, and they result in the loss of access to income sources. Although perceptions of digital security and practices for handling attacks are considered good, respondents still feel the need for regular knowledge updates, particularly regarding support from social media platforms.

With 30.5% of respondents expressing dissatisfaction with social media platforms' responses to attack reports, this report highlights the need for transparency and accountability from these platforms, as well as regulatory support from the government to protect freedom of expression and prevent false reporting. This research emphasizes the importance of digital security measures for content creators, especially in the context of public-interest content, so they can be better prepared to face evolving digital threats.
